Democrat Jennifer Wexton won Tuesday's exceptional decision for Virginia's 33rd Senate District

WASHINGTON, DC (Wusa9)- -Democrat Jennifer Wexton won Tuesday's exceptional decision for Virginia's 33rd Senate District. Which incorporates shares of Fairfax and Loudoun Counties.

Wexton got 53-percent of the vote. Republican John Whitbeck earned 37-percent, and Independent Joe May got 10-percent of the votes.

Wexton will serve the remnant of Attorney General Mark Herring's Senate term.

Wexton's win implies the state Senate is uniformly part between democrats and republicans- -as long as democrat Lynwood Lewis wins a describe for Virginia's sixth Senate District. Any tie votes in the upper chamber might be broken by the Lieutenant Governor, Ralph Northam- -a Democrat.
