For the last couple of months we’ve been working on testing how to make our cloud hosting services one of the most powerful in the world. That decision was made because more and more customers are switching to cloud based web hosting services and it is just a matter of 2-3 years most of the web sites to be hosted on cloud hosting platforms. The traditional servers will no longer be used to host web sites as cloud hosting is much more efficient and easy to use. In a cloud hosting environment you can easily setup reliability which will increase the uptime in case of hardware failures as you can easily start the cloud server from another hardware node in the cloud cluster. If a traditional server is used a hardware failure will result in longer downtime as the issue needs to be investigated first to find out which part of the system had failed in order to be replaced.

We are going to use super powerful servers with multiple CPU’s and up to 128 CPU cores per system. They will have hundreds of Gigabytes of RAM and 40 Gbit/s connectivity giving the server a total of 4GB/s read/write speed. That is a huge upgrade and you will surely notice the difference. The cloud remains 100% SSD and our plan is to start switching all our hosting services to the cloud. That means all services will be served by 100% SSD Enterprise drives. That will result in significantly better performance on all levels. The SSD drives we are using are up to 50 times faster than the normal HDD’s most companies use. Your web sites will work faster and our clients will be happier. When our clients are happy we are happy too. Moreover, we are doing this major upgrade at no additional cost. Your price remains the same.

What’s happening next?We are going to open a ticket for each customer who has an SSD cloud server in our US datacenter to schedule the migration to the new platform. Note that the cloud infrastructure upgrade has been completed in the US datacenter only and in the next couple of months the same will happen in our datacenter in Europe. Our plan is to migrate all cloud servers first and then start upgrading the shared and reseller hosting servers as well so all clients of those services will get a free upgrade to 100% SSD Enterprise Cloud storage, much more powerful servers and much more powerful network.
